Renesas RZ/T2H - ZERO SOM

The ZERO SOM, developed by DAVE Embedded Systems, is a System On Module (SOM) featuring the Renesas RZ T2H application processor. This SOM is part of the Harsh Line portfolio from DAVE Embedded Systems, which ensures maximum performance and integration. With a minimum availability of 15 years, it meets the needs of reliable and durable industrial applications.

Featuring a complete suite of internal processing units and peripherals, the ZERO SOM includes up to 3 industrial MAC Ethernet ports, up to 9 motor control axes, and a safety management system, making it ideal for industrial, safe, and secure connected applications.

The ZERO SOM is integrated into ToloMEO, DAVE Embedded Systems' solution for Edge Data Orchestration and Industry 5.0. With ToloMEO, the ZERO SOM is natively connected to the cloud, enabling data collection and remote OTA updates. It also supports the integration of machine learning algorithms running on the internal ARM cores and PRU. Additionally, it manages edge activities within a Trust Zone Area for legally bound supply chain transaction management. Cybersecurity protection is ensured through VCE monitoring and security update applications. Finally, the Embedded Manager module supervises the software lifecycle and BSP design.

The ZERO SOM is specifically designed for safe and reliable industrial applications and is suitable for IEC 61508 compliance. With ToloMEO, the ZERO SOM is the ideal solution to design a fleet of edge devices compliant with standard regulations for security and data protection.

Product Life Cycle

The ZERO SOM Longevity Program ensures long‑term availability and reliability for products based on the Renesas RZ family, which is included in Renesas’s official longevity roadmap. DAVE Embedded Systems commits to providing its modules for at least the same duration guaranteed by the silicon vendor, managing component obsolescence through a formal PCN process compliant with JEDEC standards.
In cases of product life cycle termination, DAVE forwards Last Buy Order (LBO) and Last Buy Shipment (LBS) notices to customers and may continue production using aftermarket components as long as quality can be ensured.
The program also promotes product continuity, including redesign options to maintain long‑term support. Overall, the Longevity Program ensures stable availability, controlled transitions, and predictable lifecycle management for industrial‑grade AURA SOM deployments.
