The Product Management System (PMS) is one of the core modules of ToloMEO, the software suite developed by DAVE Embedded Systems for managing the complete lifecycle of edge devices deployed in the field. As highlighted in the Inside ToloMEO video series, the PMS module plays a central role in organizing, tracking, and maintaining all information related to products and their operational events.
The PMS is a cloud‑based module that allows you to register, track, and manage all devices produced and deployed in different customer projects.
It provides:
A practical implementation of PMS event handling is demonstrated in the tutorial on managing lifecycle events using py‑PMS, where newly generated events are directly stored inside the Product Management System.
The PMS records every event sent by the device: first configuration, updates, maintenance operations, diagnostics, warnings, failures, and decommissioning.
Events are synchronized automatically through the ToloMEO infrastructure.
Each device can be linked to:
This ensures full visibility over the installed base.
The PMS maintains certificates and identity attributes needed to authenticate the device and connect it securely to ToloMEO services.
The PMS is the foundation layer for other modules such as:
These modules operate on top of the centralized data model described in the ToloMEO documentation.
A typical workflow includes:
As described in the official ToloMEO overview, the modularity and flexibility of the platform make PMS an essential component for maintaining visibility and control across the entire device fleet.
