AVR32 for real-time video applications

Atmel AVR32 is a SoC (System on Chip) specifically designed for multimedia applications like mobile media players, GPS and hand held devices. Developing a hardware and software platform for one of our customers, we have accumulated experience on this architecture, with precious help from the Atmel Support Team. The following application note depicts how we use the enhanced video manipulation functions of the AVR32 to display the video stream captured with an analog camera on the LCD, with 360x288 resolution and full frame rate (25fps) using only 27% of the AVR32 CPU load @ 140 MHz.

Retrofit Board managing SNMP protocol

You cannot even imagine how many industrial equipments are still provided with simple interfaces as RS232. On the other hand, networking needs are growing more and more and infrastructures are demanding - as an example - sophisticated yet widely used protocols as SNMP.
DAVE provides a low-cost solution retrofitting existing equipments via RS232 and interpreting SNMP commands.
Also simple data logging strategies useful to trace events and signal problems to central control rooms are possible.
It is also obvious that Ethernet interface provided to the equipment is available for web site design and data exchange with other network protocols.
HVAC and heating controls

Evolutionary user interfaces help a lot in designing friendly interface devoted to control devices for heating and HVAC systems.
In fact the volume of information to be processed and the nature of the media and interfaces to be involved, suggest to adopt a system architecture by which it should be easy:
- to pace data gathering from several interfaces
- to store data in a safe mode and with proven procedures
- to interface several media with easy calls
- to show data on LCD panels with ease
DAVE proposes an architecture that allows, with the fulfilment of the most severe industrial standards, to make all these things possible and easy.
