CPU Module: LIZARD

ARM Cortex-A8 CPU module

Lizard is the new CPU module by DAVE based on the new Texas Instruments "Sitara" AM3505/AM3517 application processor. Its a groundbreaking solution, based on the Cortex-A8 architecture, the last evolution in the ARM family, specifically designed to satisfy the increasing demand of systems with high performance but low power consumption.

Lizard press release (Italian Version) - Lizard press release ITA

Description:

Lizard offers high flexibility, thanks to the complete interfaces set and the extremely compact form factor (70mm x 50mm). Standing out features are the NEON multimedia accelerator, the graphic processor PowerVR SGX 530 (capable of 10Mpoly/s), on-board NOR and NAND flash memories and support for high-resolution displays. The industrial specification compliance, including the extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C considerably broaden the application range, which can run from industrial control to home automation, passing through digital signage and point-of-service.

Lizard is designed in order to keep full compatibiliy with the previous Zefeer family, to guarantee the economic and technical value of customers past investments, increasing at the same time performance, efficiency and software support.

Development Kits:

Linux and WindowsCE development kits will be available for customers who want to start the development on the Lizard platform. Customers can choose among two different evaluation boards, LizardEVB-Lite and LizardEVB-High.

LizardEVB-Lite

Thanks to the Zefeer compatibility Lizard can be plugged on the Zefeer designed host boards, e.g. the ZefeerEVB:

The LizardEVB-Lite is an evaluation board directly derived from the ZefeerEVB and is dedicated to customers who needs a simple solution for a quick evaluation. The available peripherals are a subset of the Lizard interfaces:
  • Ethernet 10/100MBit LAN w/PHY on RJ45
  • 3 x USB Host
  • 3 x Serial port (RS232)
  • JTAG connector
  • ADC
  • I2S Audio
  • LCD TFT
  • Touch screen
  • Keypad
  • GPIO
  • ATX Power Connector

The kits based on the LizardEVB-Lite are LELK-L and LWCK-L.

LizardEVB-High - COMING SOON

The full Lizard Evaluation board (code name: Mistral) is a complete host board which provides all the Lizard's peripherals and much more, including an FPGA on-board. It is designed to allow customers to fully evaluate Lizard capabilities.

The kits based on the LizardEVB-High are LELK-H and LWCK-H.

Lizard Embedded Linux Kit - LELK:

Current Lizard Linux kernel is 2.6.29. It is directly derived from the git tree hosted here: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/tmlind/linux-omap-2.6.git;a=summary

This public tree is in turn kept in sync with mainstream (vanilla) kernel.

The Kit is composed by:
  • LizardEVB-L evaluation board (LELK-L)
  • LizardEVB-H evaluation board (LELK-H)
  • Lizard CPU module - DLA781010R
  • U-Boot bootloader (source code and binaries)
  • Linux operating system (source code and binaries)
  • Full Lizard documentation (Manuals, User's Guides, Application Notes, ..)
  • Periodic updates (documentation revisions, new Application notes, new Design notes)
